At the end of the Nineteenth Century, the Denver & Rio Grande railroad solicited design specifications from several builders for a locomotive to replace the smaller engines previously in use. The railroad selected Baldwin Design Specification W4213, later known as the K-27. Unlike anything previously built for American narrow gauge, the K-27 represented a giant leap toward more advanced locomotive design and performance. Honoring Baldwin's innovative design, we're proud to present the S pectrum K-27, with features never before seen in large scale railroading.
