More than a half dozen of the Sierra 's locomo tives were bought brand new. They, and most of the used engines the railroad purchased, had tiny drivers to give the maximum amount of tractive effort; speed was a secondary consideration. Number 20 had only 42 " drivers. Sierra RR photo.
