This group will be dedicated to those who like to produce their own buildings, bridges, retaining walls, and any other items for your layout from cardstock. Hopefully there can be some file sharing to make this art even more economical to everyone in the group.
Mark Charles: A friend told me about highway trailers from Dig Com Models. The artwork is nicely done. They make models for several of the largest companies in the USA.

Hi Roger, I think you sent me a message by mistake instead of TC.
That's OK though.

Roger Broederdorf: Welcome to the group Harvey. I will admit that I am not always the quickest to answer postings or requests. Please be patient with me. I hope you will have plenty to share.
Keith Coyle: I have several buildings that I bought last year but have yet to print them as I don't think I will be using them. I have mainly a industrial setup that I am working on.

Welcome Keith, I apologize in being slow in approving your request. At the moment I do not always get to the computer everyday. Will be looking forward to seeing your work.

Bob May has created a spectacular kit for the carferry "City of Milwaukee" of the Grand Trunk Western RR. The original sailed from 1931 to 1979 and is preserved at Manistee, Michigan.
The model when completed is about 16 inches long, so it is smaller than N scale. You can see a photo and list of dealers at

Like all their buildings, it is low-cost, easy to build and very easy to kitbash.

I am still working on trying to get the correct look for European buildings circa 1880, but I am slowly getting there. If you get a chance to buy this software, I do recommend it.

Just dropping in during lunch to say hello and a little discovery I made over the weekend. Most of my 3D models are based on artists conceptions from paintings and sketches. There is a web site in the UK that has over 2500 actual drawings from various time periods. I was able to find 12 drawings of rolling stock before 1860 and going back as far as 1848. I can tell from the actual drawings I may as well start over and make actual models from these drawings. The name of the web site that watches over these drawings .... the Historical Model railroad Society. Nice to see our hobbyists maintaining the history of railroading.

Looking for a good source of background buildings, modeling in HO 50-60' style
Some people prefer to make models entirely of paper or cardstock. Others build a substructure using foamcore and glue the paper onto it.
Which methods have you tried? What are the plusses and minues of each approach?
As noted elsewhere, I like the ModelBuilder software. But like most things, it has a few quirks.
I'm hoping we can assemble some tips that will help each other use this software.
Tip #1 Save often. (as with any other software.)
Years ago, it was very popular to cover wood structures with asphalt siding. One particular variety was textured and colored to look like brick. (There were other patterns as well.)
It's rare to see this modeled.
