I gave some info in my post which explains why I joined this group. I look forward to sharing / participating when I am able to. A quick intro about myself...I was born and raised in Miami, Fla and rode the Silver Meteor several times to Pittsburgh (transfer to B&O in D.C) in the early 60's. About fours years ago, I finally decided to focus my HO hobby to the SAL during the transition era. I have been collecting since high school off and on, but it's been more "on" these past five yrs. I will be taking over a bedroom (10 x 12) for my layout room, since my oldest son just purchased his first house and has vacated his room. (one down, one to go!) When my second son graduates college and moves out, I hope to knock down the wall between the two bedrooms, and expand my territory. This will have to be a joint merger of right-of-ways, as my wife seems to be right, and doesn't see things my way most of the time!... less

For the first 17 years of my life I lived 2 blocks down from SALs Charleston-Savannah mainline and my parents house sat smack-dab against the ACLs 9.75 mile Croghans branch. I'd really like to hear from others their experiences with the 3 lines.
Rick PhippsDave, not too many ACL/SCL lovers on here I am afraid. Kind of like trying to find engines and rolling stock in it. I lived in a little town of Tabor City, NC and both came through there during the 60's and 70's. I now live in Florence and have the CSX yard here. My brother-in-law is an engineer in the yard here and has been working there since back when it was Seaboard Family Lines. As to my layout, it is on hiatus at the moment as I am in the process of selling my house but plan on doing a new layout with ACL/SCL as mine. less

It is with deep sadness that I report that Ian Kennedy of Didsbury, Canada passed away April 12, 2018 from a heart attack. He and I met on Tranlife back in 2011 and his layout was a wonderful one running the walls between two rooms. He was a great friend who will be tremendously missed.

Good morning everyone! It's been far too long since I have been on! I have gotten back into the hobby, and have joined a local RR club. I will not have a layout in the foreseeable as I am currently in college and I don't think my roommates would appreciate a layout in the living room! My current fleet is fairly small, but I do plan on expanding. More specifically, I plan on expanding my steam fleet. It's good to be back, and I hope to be more active in the future! Have a good day everyone!

Hey guys, its been a while since I've posted anything but I see nothing much has changed. I'm selling a few things, first on the block is a Kato GP35 (ATSF #2804) Kadee #5's installed, DC only, lightly used but has some dust on it, detail parts included but not on the model asking $80+shipping. Second is an Athearn RTR SW1500 (SOU #2300) TCS DCC installed, original McHenry couplers, only out of the box to test asking $85+shipping. Finally I have 4 pairs of Walthers couplers (the springless ones that come on the multi-packs) and a pair of Accumate couplers. Nothing wrong with them, just opted out for Kadee's and don't have a use for them. $.50 a pair plus shipping or all 4 of the Walthers for $1.50 plus shipping. Pictures of the locos are on flickr ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/124104914@N05/sets/72157645024145288/)
