Steve Neubaum's Album: Athearn Santa Fe Freight F-7 A-B

Got a pair of Athearn belt drive F-7s running. The powered A unit has a Pittman mechanism in it, the B is a dummy. I masked off the rest of the units, spraypainted the side grilles silver, as they were on the prototype. The pilot, frames, and trucks are now black, as on the prototype, and repainted the yellow cab as the yellow was badly chipped. Also cut window "Glass". The windshield had to be cut to fit, and as I have made templates for Athearn F units, is actually pretty easy.

Matt Jackson Nice acquisition. Of all the locomotives I have, I don't have a scale set of Santa Fe Freight or passenger E of F-units. What's wrong with me? :^)

Steve Neubaum I've actually had these a long while now, but only now gotten to restoring them. Also of note is that some of the steps were broken off of the A unit. I removed steps from broken and useless bodies to fix these and others.
