Steve Neubaum's Album: Working HO Scale Cushion Underframe

This started as a cheap AHM Taiwan made Santa Fe flatcar. As it was lettered for "Super Shock Control" I felt it was a good piece to try to build a working cushioned coupler and frame. As the photos show, it works pretty well. Some bits of plastic, a pair of identical springs, and the couplers have 24 scale inches of travel at either end.

The coupler is pressed in with my fingers. Soon as I let go the spring pushes it back to normal.
