Holes for the Spring
Before laying the turnout, drill a 3/16 hole through the roadbed. (Since it is too late to show you this step, I can only indicate it with the white line in the photo). This hole allows the spring to move side to side with the points.

After laying the turnout, drill very small holes with a pin vise: one in the roadbed, and the other in the throw rod. Be certain they are dead center between the rails. The hole, marked in yellow, must allow the spring to pivot, but not shift from side to side.
