Rob C's Album: Horseshoe & Cottonwood R.R.

Progress shots on the HOn3 Horseshoe and Cottonwood layout. This multi-deck layout models part of the Carson and Colorado and the fictional H&C line that is modeled after the Bodie & Benton, a wild ride through the Sierra Nevada mountains to boom towns circa 1911.

Just south of Laws is this station and industry. It'll either be Zurich, Kearsarge, or Aberdeen. There wasn't much at either of the real locations on the C&C. More research needed.

Graham Stokes Handsome scene, alignments & structures. Mind telling me about those two structures-especially the back one-coal? I am working on a mine industry too.

Rob C Thanks, Graham! The kit was a coal mine, though unlikely in the desert. But they did mine talc, salt brine, and some other things in the desert that might work as stand-ins. The freight station is a kit I picked up on ebay that still needs a little work...  more

Graham Stokes Do you know the make of your coal mine kit, Rob? Re your freight station, I guess you decide if it is the railroad's freight station or another owner's/town's. Then paint as you please!
