Front Valve Gear
I cannot find a good cut away of the front valve gear used on these locomotives. The little I see it appears these are modified "Gab Valves" from stationary steam engines of that period. Would make sense that these were used first before the more sophisticated cut-off reversers were used. Notice the air intake below the firebox. Nothing like an air scoop on an 1830 locomotive
